Kansai Property Showcase, How Omoroi Osaka Finds Real Homes for Sale in Japan Every Week

What Makes the Kansai Property Showcase Different From Other Japan Property Blogs and Newsletters?

For over 90 weeks now, the Kansai Property Showcase by Omoroi Osaka has helped introduce buyers around the world to real homes for sale in Japan. What originally started as a way to share a few interesting listings each week has slowly grown into one of the most detailed weekly property showcases focused specifically on the Kansai region of Japan.

Every single week, we search through newly listed properties across Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo, Wakayama, and Shiga to find houses that are actually available, realistically priced, and genuinely worth considering for foreign buyers, investors, vacation home owners, and people planning to relocate to Japan.

The goal of the Kansai Property Showcase has never been to simply post the cheapest akiya houses in Japan just to attract attention online. Instead, the focus has always been on finding livable, practical, freehold properties that people could realistically purchase and enjoy living in or using as an investment.

Each weekly showcase currently includes:

  • 6 featured properties that are also shared on Instagram

  • Direct property listing links

  • Google Map locations and addresses

  • Important property details and notes

  • Over 100 additional Kansai property listings that were also considered during the weekly search process

While many people discover the showcase through Instagram, the weekly blog itself has become an important resource for buyers searching for houses in Japan, investment properties in Osaka, vacation homes in Kansai, renovated Japanese homes, and affordable real estate opportunities across western Japan.

How Omoroi Osaka Finds Properties Each Week

At Omoroi Osaka, we approach property searches differently from many other Japan real estate blogs or social media pages.

A lot of websites and Instagram accounts post attractive “fishing properties”, homes that generate clicks and attention but were already sold long ago or were never realistically available in the first place. While those posts may gain views, they often waste buyers’ time and create unrealistic expectations.

That is not how we operate.

As agents based in Osaka who help buyers purchase property throughout Japan every year, we focus specifically on the Kansai region because it is the area we know best. We have personally traveled throughout Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo, Wakayama, and Shiga countless times and have built relationships with agents, offices, and local professionals throughout the region.

Rather than searching all over Japan for random cheap properties, the Kansai Property Showcase focuses only on newly listed homes posted within the last seven days. This gives buyers the highest possible chance that the property is still available when they see it.

Every few days, we personally go through hundreds, sometimes thousands, of new listings individually. We manually review the photos, layouts, locations, land ownership details, station access, and overall condition of each property before deciding whether it is worth sharing.

Some of the main things we look for include:

  • Freehold ownership properties only

  • Properties over 50 square meters

  • Renovated or move-in ready homes

  • Homes in livable locations

  • Properties within practical price ranges

  • Homes with good transportation access

  • Properties close to daily necessities like supermarkets and convenience stores

In larger cities like Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto, we often focus on homes under ¥50 million. In smaller cities and towns throughout Kansai, we usually try to keep properties under ¥30 million whenever possible.

We also strongly avoid properties with obvious major issues. If we see signs of water damage, severe neglect, heavy structural deterioration, or extremely poor maintenance, we immediately move on to the next listing.

One of the biggest things we pay attention to is the kitchen condition. In many cases, the kitchen tells you a lot about how well the owner cared for the property overall. A clean, maintained kitchen often reflects a well-kept home.

Why We Focus on Renovated and Move-In Ready Homes

One major difference between the Kansai Property Showcase and many other Japan real estate pages is that we intentionally focus on renovated or turnkey homes.

Yes, extremely cheap akiya homes exist in Japan. However, many of them require heavy renovation work, contractor coordination, repair management, and significant additional costs after purchase.

For many overseas buyers, especially people purchasing a vacation home, second home, or investment property in Japan, that process can become difficult very quickly.

Most buyers simply want a property where they can arrive, furnish the home, and immediately begin enjoying it or operating it as a rental.

That is why the majority of homes we share are already in good condition and require minimal work.

Many of the additional 100+ properties included at the bottom of our weekly showcases are also renovated homes that are ready to use right away.

The Importance of Location in Kansai Real Estate

Another thing we carefully consider is real-world livability.

A property may be extremely cheap, but if it is located hours away from transportation, shopping, or major cities, it may not realistically work for most buyers.

That is why we usually try to keep properties within a reasonable distance of train stations, often within about a 30-minute walk or less. In Japan, that distance is often much more manageable than many people initially think, especially if you own a bicycle or car.

We also pay attention to nearby amenities such as:

  • Convenience stores

  • Grocery stores

  • Drug stores

  • Shopping centers

  • Access to train lines

  • Nearby city access

Our goal is not simply to post cheap houses in Japan.

Our goal is to find homes that people can realistically enjoy living in.

The Future of the Kansai Property Showcase

As the Kansai Property Showcase continues growing, we also want to continue improving it.

Currently, the six featured properties take up a large portion of the weekly article.

However, moving forward, we are interested in focusing more heavily on the additional property section at the bottom of each showcase.

The featured homes are already posted individually on Instagram with photos and information, while the larger additional property list gives readers access to a much wider selection of homes throughout Kansai.

In many ways, we believe that expanded property access is becoming one of the most valuable parts of the showcase itself.

Our long-term goal is to continue improving how readers can browse, organize, and explore available homes for sale in Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo, Wakayama, and Shiga more efficiently.

Thank You for Supporting the Kansai Property Showcase

After more than 90 weeks of searching, reviewing, and posting properties throughout Kansai, we wanted to finally explain how the showcase works behind the scenes and why we approach it differently.

The Kansai Property Showcase exists because we genuinely enjoy helping people discover real opportunities in Japan, not just viral listings that look good online.

We truly appreciate everyone who reads the weekly showcases, follows along on Instagram, and supports Omoroi Osaka.

If you have suggestions, ideas, or feedback on how we can improve the weekly showcase, especially the additional property section, please feel free to contact us or send us a message on Instagram. Since many of you return every single week to browse properties throughout Kansai, your feedback genuinely helps shape the future of the showcase.

We look forward to continuing to improve the Kansai Property Showcase and helping more people discover real homes for sale in Japan for years to come.
